Initial Oral Examination

If you are not having an emergency, your initial visit will be with our professional hygiene team. To meet the team click here. The first visit includes an oral examination includes a visual examination, as well as the new oral cancer screening with Vizilite. This new screening can detect cancer in stage I or II, while a visual examination can only find stage III or IV. We also offer our patients digital x-rays, which use 1/10 of the radiation than film x-rays and they can be blown up the size of a computer screen for earlier diagnosis. Look at the picture below for the size difference of the x-rays. We know you don't want us to find anything wrong, but the sooner we find something the easier it is to fix it. We have a new educational software, called Casey, that has pictures and detailed explanations, if you like that.

The intraoral camera shows you on the monitor what the dentist sees, either Dr. Cashion or Dr. Cody.

Early Detection X-rays

X-rays that save your teeth:

Digital X-RaysWe know that early detection is the key to saving teeth. So, we have invested in Digital X-rays so that our x-rays are as big as a computer monitor screen. As you can see in the picture, the monitor is 1 x-ray and a 'normal' x-ray is being held up right next to it. We can see decay as soon as it gets started. The old type of x-rays are about 1 inch squared. The dentist is forced to try to distinguish between shades of gray.

The new Digital X-rays can be manipulated like a photo program on your home computer. We can colorize, invert the black and white, magnify, and most importantly use much LESS radiation than conventional film technology!

Easy Cosmetic Fix

Over time, teeth chip and can become jagged. An easy, quick tooth fix is called 'enamelplasty'. It's as easy as smoothing and polishing the edges of the teeth. Between whitening and smoothing the edges, you can have a great smile in no time.

Implants
We will work with an implant specialist to create an implant for a missing single tooth, missing multiple teeth, or replace a removable appliance. Click here for more info

Teeth Whitening
Our state-of-the-art, in-office Power Whitening system will make your teeth whiter in less than 1.5 hours. Another option is our home bleaching system you take with you for results in 2 weeks. You can also consider a combination program of both systems for optimal, long-term results.

Crowns and Veneers
You can have a new smile with non-metal porcelain crowns on both the front and the back teeth.Click here for more information.

Old and Unsightly Fillings
Amalgams are the old type of mercury filled black fillings. Today we have tooth-colored fillings that match your teeth. No one will see your fillings everytime you laugh.

Root Canal Therapy
The 3 scariest words in the English language are Root Canal Therapy.  We prefer to call these Very Deep Fillings.

Scaling and Root Planing
The Hygienist has recommended scaling and root planing. What the heck does that mean? I just came in for a cleaning. Sound familiar?
It happens every day.
When calculus accumulates under the gum, the hygienist will remove it with her professional equipment. This is another subject that works better with pictures. Click here to see the pictures and explanations.

Mouth Guards or Night Guards
Whether you are an athlete or casual sports participant, you should wear a mouth guard to protect your teeth.

If you grind your teeth while you sleep, a bite guard will help reduce symptoms by reducing the damage done to the teeth. You will be shocked at how fast you can hurt the night guard and then it will be obvious how hard night time grinding can be on teeth.

If you have headaches, click here to find out more about easy, small nightguards that are custom made in the office.
